Hello. I'm new at posting on this forum but I've been reading it for quite some time and have been impressed with what I've seen.
I'm having problems with a Chyang Fun Ice Cube IC-VG61, with the Intel 845G/GL chipset and 533mhz bus. I tried to replace a gforce3 video card with a Radeon 9700pro, and while the machine will start up just fine, while in games the game will hang or get severe skewing of the graphics. This will occurr anywhere from within 5 min to a couple hours of starting. I will sometimes get system messages saying that the graphics driver has failed to respond. Drivers have been removed and reinstalled several times as has DX9b and it hasnt solved the problem.
The other two possibilities I've considered are heat and the psu. Ive removed the side panel next to the video card to improve cooling and it still freezes up. Since the 9700pro requires a connection to the psu, is it possible the psu in these rigs arent powerful enough to supply the 9700pro? The psu is a Chyang Fun CWT-220 FXC, 220 watts, and im sure it propriatary to their boxes. The other hardware in the rig are a P4 2.4, a 120g HDD, a floppy, and a Samsung DVD/CD-RW. On-board sound is used.
Has anyone else had problems trying to put this type of card in this box?
