already all u have to do is look at my Sig. and thats my main rig..since its spring break and i have a job they gave me 48hrs to work.. so im getting a fat check. should upgraded my mobo. to a ic7-max3? or just build a 2nd amd system? cause i already have a 2500+ locked processor and a theremalright ax7 HSF for it. thanks.

System already looks good to me.

I'd say build the other system if you really want.

I'm assuming your a student. Don't get in the habit of spending all the money you earn from little jobs on your break. You have a nice system, so save your money for when you need it.

u know hard it is to save money when your into computers!?!?! Freaking hard as heck! it all started when i bought a case with a window. thats where it started to happen. :D

Your preaching to the choir, brother. It's the sickness we all share. Now that I'm house hunting I wish I had saved more over the past 2 years.

i think i just solved my problem i'll probably do both. cause im gonna sell my is7 to a friend for 65$ and use that for a abit nf7-s mobo and just buy both motherboards at the same time and just slowly build the amd.

as a student whose broke off his ass, I gotta agree here. I gotta learn to manage my money, dont start spending on stuff or youll end up like me; poor.

You people gotta learn some self control with the cash flow.

Of course, I just ordered a DVD writer and MX cordless duo on Tuesday, but I'm still good to eat for the next 2 months.

Me too. Which one did you get? I jumped on that $92 NEC 2500A one day sale at newegg.

and I live at home so most food is free :D :D :D

Hey, we got the same DVD writer!

I live off Ramen and burgers. Such is college life. Good thing I don't have a girlfriend, my nonexistent money would be sucked dry.

Girlfriends make computers look inexpensive by comparison.

See if you aren't looking for a relationship and you aren't really picky...you can usually find girls that aren't all that hot, but still decent looking that you can just have around for that occasional BJ or whatever you need, not that I would ever do such a thing, but I've hea...ok WAY OFF topic now, sorry guys.

Good luck with your DVD burner, 8x for $92 is hard to beat.

When it comes to money, a friend of mine always says "think like bill gates, what would he do?"

You never make money by spending it all.

Looks like you got a great system already. I wouldn't bother buying a MAX3. Go ahead and build you a backup AMD rig or somethin instead.

ha.. i have a gf. its crazy.. so hard to save money and buy stuff for my self. one weekend its a movie or a dinner or hell BOTH. and next weekend its a computer part or game. never ending battle of managing money. :(

Same boat with you. Girlfriends, computers, games, clothes, school, don't forget GAS...o yeah working at a Computer Store does not help either, damn temptations!!

One thing I will never understand is this.

People come here and say "Hey, I have a badass system, what should I upgrade?".

I have a system for maybe 2 or 3 years at least before I consider upgrading. Maybe a part here or there that NEEDS to be upgraded.

I just wish I was rich as all of these other people seem to be.

BTW, I don't mean any offense by this, its just something that I don't understand.

For some people, we have enough disposable income to play with computers and no more. I for one would like to have the excess funds to upgrade my ride to a Lancer Evolution, but then I would be stretching in terms of payments and overextended in terms of insurance.

Computers are relatively affordable to customize and hot-rod, so-to-speak. And its utility as an essential tool of modern life enables easy justification of performance upgrade.

Yes, we could save our money, but that's rarely any fun. Besides, a lot of us often need the instant gratification. Not everyone enjoys a placidly content life. (And I'm not implying that you do or don't.)

I mean, that's the reality of modern life.

Young adult males in Japan spend tons on their cars (hence some of the crazy modified stuff we see) because their socio-economic structure precludes them from ever being able to afford to buy their housing.

A word of caution to you guys with the girlfriends.

When you make them fiancee's it gets A LOT MORE expensive.

I wish I had the luxury of having to decide whether to spend my money on a gf or a computer.

Lately I don't find satisfaction in buying computerstuff anymore. I am still deciding if that is because there havent been any exciting new pieces of hardware lately, because I already have a good rig, or simply because i am realizing that the 'puter is a surrogate gf.

...

Ooops, Im getting too personal

On the IS7 vs. IC7 max 3, if i don't have either yet which one should i go for... i need some OC'ing potential but I don't need a super fast machine..saving the $100 and getting the Is7 is very tempting...

IC7-Max3 is the highest end, but the IS7 provides great OC controls too (too be expected from Abit).

Save the money, go IS7. It performs very well as it is anyways.

And to Azn226, I'll just throw in that I don't think you'll need the IC7-Max3; you already have a good mobo as it is.

If you really need a second comp for whatever reason, work on that, but don't go broke doing it.

And DeeJay, you already have a very nice comp.
