IC7 MAX3 false temp readouts?

I think I remember reading somewhere that the IC7 boards like to give false temp readouts. Like, if the temp says 65C it's really like 50C..? Is this true?

My BIOS temp readings are always the same as on my HardMonitor.. donno if that makes a difference.

So is it true?
 
I remember hearing something like this about the IC7 boards. It was concluded that it was just the placement of the temperature sensors, as in it differed from other manufactures. I know on the IC7's it was about a seven degree difference. So really it's a true readout, just not from the location most readouts are done. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.
 
So, say I have a cpu reading of 50C, should I really consider it like a 43C?
 
The IC7 boards just read it completely wrong. They're about 10C on the high side after the latest BIOS update. I don't think its the sensor placement, but the calibration.
 
I hope you guys are right because I just bumped my vcore to 1.65v and im getting temps of 67C stressed..
 
Actually, Abit boards read the temperature more accurately than most.

Read an artical somewhere in which two setups, everything identical except Asus vs. Abit mobos, and use a heatsink with a thermocouple in it. The Asus board reported a CPU temp of 7 or 8 degrees less than the heatsink (which is impossible); the Abit report a temperature of 5 or 6 degrees hotter than the heatsink (which is reasonable, given the heatspreader and thermal goop between the the thermocouple and chip).
 
It's not really a topic of discussion around here anymore, but in the fall of 2003 there were lots of posts about the IC7 line reading way high, and comparing it to other brands or even boards by the same manufacturer. The IC7 line just reads much higher than it should.

And these are mobo reported tests, read from the temp sensor, and sometimes checked against the heat sink.
