IBM has created a free semantic e-mail search engine that indexes and analyzes the user's e-mail so it can be searched using what they call a “Google-like” interface. For a second, I thought this article was talking about a tool IBM made for companies to search its employees e-mail. Heh, oops.

The engine, called IBM OmniFind Personal Email Search (IOPES), allows users to search their mail based on concepts, such as dates and phone numbers, according to IBM. It also allows searchers to define their own concepts.

Maybe they could add it to Lotus Notes so you can actually search efficiently. Then again if it's as slow as Notes searches, don't bother.

Corporate email has to be the biggest impediment to production ever invented.

How many times has anyone here read 40 or so internal emails a day only to find many are in direct conflict with each other? If you dare pick up the phone and ask you are immediately told to “email me”. You can waste half a day or more trying to get clarification on something totally inane.

I’ve yet to see a filter fix that.

great, and it's Windows only
assholes...

not surprised really, but I could really use a better search for LN on the Mac. I had a nice MSN search plugin for LN to do some searching... I hate MSN but it worked nicely and I had it only for LN, everything else was disabled. Eventually disabled it as it kept slowing down my computer with indexing and questions.
