I am on head-fi.org along with a couple hi-fi boards.
Sound wise. This is apparently the buck stops Digital Audio player.
OS wise.
CRAP.
Android 2.3.1 os which google has made obsolete way back after 2.3.3. came out. 6 hour battery life. I can imagine that it is due to crappy development on RockChips part and not turning off outputs (ie ALL outputs are working at all time).
User interface is nonesense for a $800 device.

I like the android interface. I like it better than, Oh i don't know. iOs. Also you can play FLAC files on android Im not aware you can on iOS. 2.3.1 is in no way "obsolete" It does everything it should do.
OP Congratulations and when does it arrive? Are you going to give a review with pictures?

The question I haven't seen asked but should be the first one is what exactly are you going to be plugging into it?
I assume if he is buying something of this variety he should have some decent cans.

I would assume so as well, but his signature only lists M50s and SR-80s so I'm curious.

Yeah, at the moment those are the only headphones I have. I like the device itself a lot, I mean yeah it's old-android, but as long as you don't put a bunch of BS on it the GUI is nice and quick. Plus, with a 64GB microSDXC I have 128GB space on here and can get basically all the music on it I want.
Next buy will be another set of headphones. I am kind of thinking something like the Denon AH-D5000's, or Ultrasone Pro 900's. I may just end up saving my money for a while longer and go for something like Beyer T5p or T1, Ultrasone Signature Pro (or maybe an Ed 8 if they are still around), or some Audez'e LCD-2's.
I really need to get some listening time in on some of these headphones before I make my next purchase though. I am looking for stuff with good bass, and either open or closed would be fine. I generally use the M50's at work and such, where I want a closed back so I don't bother other people.

D5000 have luxurious and lush bass, the Pro 900 is more accurate and STRONG bass and sometimes sibilant highs. I think the LCD-2s have been lauded as bass monsters a bit too much, granted my set was the new Bamboo version but they were really quite neutral even compared to HD800s just a tad darker. I can't speak to the others.
D5000 and Pro 900 are definitely the prime contenders here, with the Pro 900 probably coming out on top. I probably just need to buy a set and be done with it, rather than spending forever deciding. See, it's so much easier to buy something like the DX100 as I already knew I would like it before I bought it.
It all depends on the type of music you like. T1 is def all arounder as well as LCD2. D5000 and Pro900 are bass heavy but they could be little harsh in high. I'm not sure how strong is DX100's integrated amp but I would def consider HE400 or HE500 as well.
Another fact is that some headphones might be little uncomfortable for long listening due to it's weight or shape but that's also personal preference.

I would def consider HE400, W1000X, D5000/7000 or even new Denons if you like bass.
Both of them seems to be able to drive LCD2 as well.
Another good can you should consider is HD650 it has similar dark sound signature like LCD2 with less bass.
Also you should def try it before buy those cans or at least buy it from sellers with good return policy(like satisfaction guarantee policy with no restocking fees).

No they don't! Stop spreading this myth people! The HD650s have been unveiled for almost 2 years now!!!
I don't remember saying HD650 is veiled? New silver driver in HD650 is def unveiled but it still has dark sound signature compare to Beyers or Denons

Hrmm, I just did some reading on the ATH-W1000X's and they seem really good! I wasn't really even aware of them before, but I do like my M50's as well, so I may stick with AudioTechnica next go round. Welp, on to my 'list' they go. I wish there was a local shop where I could sit down and listen to these things!
