i7 OC First Attempt

So my first attempt at OC'ing my 920, Asus P6T with 6gig G.Skill DDR3-1600 and a CM V8 the rest of the system is unchanged from the one in my sig. I wanted at least 3-3.5Ghz out of this CPU and I seem to have done that, this is not a 24/7 system.

We have the same mobo, ram and cpu.

I used a little bit less volts and got to 3.7ghz last night.

Prime stable so far for nearly 23hours.

It levels out around 78c with my shitty cooler.
I went to 3.83Ghz but it went above 80c and I dont want it to be that high for 24/7 use, and I ran into a bit of stabability issues that I was too lazy to kink out. So I lowered it back down to a so far cooler and stable 3.7 (I still need more testing done though).
 
I ended up trying to get closer to your speeds, but it didn't work out, unstable. I instead went back to the settings I showed in my screen shots but lowered the voltage to 1.225. So far this has been stable and a few degrees cooler then when I left voltage on auto and it was running at 1.28.

Good OC.

I hit 3.60 GHz @ 1.2375 Vcore with 1.2v idle in CPU-Z and 1.184v at load.
 
And I am done, I not only hit my goal as shown above but also managed to lower my voltage now. I started at 1.2, at that my computer wouldn't load Windows, so I stepped up little by little until I got to 1.225 which as shown is stable, and runs pretty cool. This appears to be the lowest I can run my chip at this speed.

I suppose I could push a little more, but again my goal was to get at least 3-3.5 out of the 920.
 
40 minutes of prime isn't much testing. to test stability i'd go a few hours. i let mine go six hours and some do as much as 24. i've had mine crash after 4 hours tho.
 
My system was stable in Windows (no crashes) but crashed after about 30 minutes of Prime95. Passed LinX and IBT, though...
 
I have no idea about voltages for these things so I Started at 1.28v and I'm at 3.6Ghz currently, I'm going to step it down(I'm fine with 3.6 :D ) and see how low I Can go on volts I'll go for a max OC push later

I could not get 3.6 on 1.225, so I am not sure how low you are going to be able to step down. My first attempt (first post) you see my voltage at 1.28v and even at 3.5 my CPU temps were getting into the upper range of 70c. I personally feel better about 3.5, on 1.225v with cpu temps staying away from mid 70c.
