I turned the bus speed to 166 and disable speed step so I can see what temps I get and I have some strange results.

I ran both CPU-Z and Real Temp and CPU-Z is showing a stable core speed of 3325 however real temp is all over the place from 2.1 ghz on up as if speed step is still enabled. What is going on?

also, my understanding is there is 2 powersaving functions built into x58 boards.


EIST and speedstep, make sure you disable both.

Are you sure? I thought EIST stood for Enhanced Intel Speedstep Technology? (Meaning they are one and the same...) I have an Asus P6T, and it Only has a "Speedstep" setting to disable.
 
ya, sorry, EIST is intel speed step, what I meant to say, is there are other power saving functions offered by some board manufacturers, it really depends on the board you have.
