I'm playing around with easy tune 6 and bumped the oc up to 3.98ghz and i was wondering what the safest max temp you guys would recommend, with this oc it bumps up to about 104w when maced out and i only tested it for about 15 minutes but it hit 73 Celsius. I haven't oc'ed anything in a long time and any tips would be appreciated.
 
That seems warm for 4GHz, are you still on the stock cooler?

Either way, in the 70s is about the max I'm comfortable with on a day to day basis for my 2700.
 
That is about right for stock cooler. You actually have to be careful if you are using easytune for the temperature reading as it is reading a sensor that is usually 10° LOWER than what the actual core/package temp is so you are looking at around 83°C max core temp. My 2600k did about 86° at 4.2 GHz on the stock cooler.
 
Yeh, I wouldn't really bother overclocking on the intel stock cooler as it really is rubbish. It just about does the job at stock speeds but doesn't cut it for any sort of overclock really. Treat your CPU to a decent after market cooler then crank it up to around 4.5Ghz.
 
What everyone else said. You can get the CoolerMaster Hyper 212+ at Amazon for $20, and that'll get you to 4.6-4.8 easy.
