i7 2600K Cooling Issues.

Wanted to get some your thoughts and opinions before I try spending even more money and get no where.

I recently upgraded to an i7 and my idle temp was about 60 degrees, while gaming I will hit 80 and last night watching Game of Thrones it got to 105. I recently bought another case fan expecting that to help, but it didn't really. I haven't noticed any changes over a couple degrees from before. Knowing this what do you think would be the best plan of action?

- More case fans

- Use AS5 instead of Dynex for my thermal paste. I heard I might see a 2-3 degree change at best and since I need it to be running on average about ~30 degrees cooler I'm not sure it's worth it.

- Upgrade my heatsink
 
I don't think you're seated right. Even my little shuttle pc idles at 32*C with the little I.c.e. cooler. Try reseating your hsf.
 
Is the 2600k OCed? Are those temps in Fahrenheit or Celsius? 105 is way up there for C and even under a stock cooler at stock clocks it should NEVER get that hot unless its summer time and you have no form of AC etc, in other words it should never get that hot in a normal environment. My guess would be improper seating of the heat sink and you should try reseating it better, that or you used to little/to much paste.
 
Definitely sounds like seating issue. Also when you put the CPU cooler on it perhaps you put way to much thermal compound. I've seen temps go way up if you put way to thick of a coat on the HSF.
 
Another vote for poor heatsink seating/fit. I'd take it off and re-attach it and see if that helps.

My idle is now 45-50 degrees and I hit 70 gaming, this good or should I try installing additional fans to get it down from here?
 
Awesome, good news! And unless I missed it, I'm assuming you're running the stock hsf? I'd upgrade this. I hear good things about the Hyper 212+. Might start there.

Those temps are normal and fine, more fans are not needed and would just add noise. If you plan on OCing later you will be looking at a better HSF etc.
