I am just wondering if it is normal for my CPU's core temps to be constantly fluctuating. I have a ASUS P8Z77-V LK motherboard and a Hyper 212 plus in a Corsair 200R. I've been using HWMonitor to measure the temps.

The temps basically never stop changing from second to second, they are fluctuating around +/- 2-4 degrees C all the time. I'm just not sure if this is normal or not, I also have a core temp difference of 8-10 degrees C between cores 0/3 and core 2 (hottest core). I just want to play it safe and be sure this should be happening.

Also does anyone know which setting turns off the automatic CPU clock/voltage adjuster in the ASUS UEFI bios, I feel like it could have a negative affect/lead to unstability from constantly lowering and raising the clock speeds/voltages.

Hey man..My temps do the exact same thing, except I have a 3770K..temps do move up/down very rapidly, so I wouldn't worry..Also, the 8-10C gap is ok, you are always going to have one core that is hotter then the others, or so it seems if that is the core that is right next to the iGPU..

As far as turning off the speed changes, you just need to turn off EIST, Enhanced Intel Speed Step, and disable all the C state options.

Thanks, how do you feel about that setting vs leaving it on a constant voltage/clock?

Yes it is perfectly normal for the temperatures on an Intel® Core™ i5-3570K to change from moment to moment based on what you are doing at a given time. Also HWMonitor is about the best temperature monitoring software that I have found for the 2nd and 3rd generation Intel® Core™ processors.

There's really no point in having it run full-speed all the time. The power-saving features work just fine with overclocking on the Sandy and Ivy chips.
