i3 3220 load temps

Hey guys,

I don't see too much talk around here about the new i3 Ivy Bridge chips. I just got the 3220 and get 27-29c idle and 60-61c in Prime 95 and 55-57c in Linpack. This is using the stock cooler. Are these good temps? Intel's page doesn't list temperatures for this cpu.

I thought about getting decent thermal paste and an aftermarket cooler but not sure if that's necessary.

Your temps are fine. IB has raised the max temp to 105C before the chip will begin throttling to prevent any damage.

My 3220 idles at 19-26c, load temps(not prime95) are the same as yours. That is using the stock cooler, in a fanless case. So you should be good.
