Greetings!
I got my hands on an external HD that I want to use to finally try a 64bit OS. I would probably partition it to install more than one OS but which ones you recommend and what are they good for...it games, apps, NOTHING! :)
I was considering Linux (dont know which distro as I only played with Ubuntu once)
Vista 64
and XP 64
Regards

In all honesty: What do you expect? Windows 64Bit is the same as 32bit on the outside. On the inside, you'll only notice (if at all) it if the app is compiled in 64bit. Chances are, you won't see jack.

Now, linux is a completely different animal and it wouldn't matter (again) if you'd try 32bit or 64bit since it would be new to you anyways.

So why again do you want to "play" with a 64bit OS?

1) What do you plan on doing with this 64 bit OS? The OS itself will appear the same.

2) What connection is the external drive? Unless it's eSATA, you don't want to run an OS off an external driver.
