I want to overclock my CPU

Hi,

I'm new to overclocking as you can see from the title

I've got an AMD Athlon X2 64 FX-62 2.8GHz Windsor, I want to overclock it to 3.2, I've got the cooling system for it, the thing is I don't know how to do it from the BIOS, I might do, but I don't know what to do with the voltage and everything =\

Theres a program that ASUS provided when I bought my Crosshair(I think AI Booster or something), but it didn't seem to work well...

CPU: AMD Athlon X2 64 FX-62 2.8GHz Windsor
Mobo: ASUS Crosshair
RAM: 2* OCZ DDR2 1GB
GFX: nV 7950 GX2

Any help would be apperciated

just look up reviews or overclocking numbers for the processor.. 99% of the time they will give you the clock speed, FSB setting, and what voltage is required for that overclock.. do a little homework and you will find all the answers you need..

EDIT:

I've been looking in some overclocking pages, and was some guy overclocking his CPU and said he put his FSP at 222, for some reason, on my AIBooster, it says "FSB: 1004.57", is that normal?

take a look here.. and read through the reviews.. there are tons of overclock numbers..

i also forgot that the FX-62 has the unlocked multiplier.. so its even easier to overclock.. all you have to change is the multiplier and voltage..

14x=2.8ghz(stock)
14.5x=2.9ghz
15x=3.0ghz
15.5x=3.1ghz
etc. etc. etc.

in some of those reviews you will see some overclocking with the FSB.. ignore thouse and just pay attention to the actual speed.. so like one was 217x14= 3.1ghz or something.. instead that would be 200x15 if you used the multiplier to overclock..

TEejay. Search the internet. Learn, educate yourself before doing such a task. You need to know how to monitor, and stress test to see if its even stable.

it really depends on the motherboard and where the option is at.. so you just need to play with the bios and find it..
