i m building a new computer and this is my first time to reallie heavy overclock it but economically.. i need a lil help please

my mobo is this
PC Chips SiS 746 Chipset Motherboard for AMD Socket A CPU, Model "M848ALU" -the link

my cpu is this
AMD Athlon XP 1700+, 266MHz FSB, 256KB L2 Cache Processor - OEM
the link

as for the ram, its not gonna be that important, i m not pushin the speed that hard
these products are all from newegg

but since this is done with economical intentions, the hsf has to be cheap too, so can anyone post a real cheap hsf that can cool this setup, would be convenient if its at newegg..i look at a lot of hsf but i never had any experience with it so i dont kno how much it can cool

thanks

Don't expect anything from the PC Chips motherboard especially since it uses a sis chipset. You probably won't even be able to get a 100mhz oc out of it.

but wut if i jus set the fsb higher?...wouldnt i get higher speed?..

wut board would u recommend for this?.. it has to be cheap, around $50

this thread might be better served in the mobo forums

anyhow the cheapest i heard mentioned around here is the epox 8rda, which costs i think around 80 :(

brows the for sale for trade forum man. you can pick up a good OC board there for cheap if ya get lucky.

definitly dont get that SiS chipset board. you wont get anything even near an OC out of it. go Abit, Asus, DFI, or Epox for heavy overclocking. for moderate overclocking go MSI or gigabyte.

make sure you get a board that allows you to lock the AGP/PCI buses within the BIOS. or you will not be able to OC worth a damn.

What's your MB budget. Check Newegg Refurbs. I scored a Biostar M7NCG 400 board. Micro atx. But has all the OC features. Volts to 2v cpu, Mem volt Multi's FSB. And im running a 1700+ @ 220fsb 10.5 X 220fsb 2310mhz. 1.87v.

best thing is $39 for the refurb!!!! The IC7 in my sig rig is a newegg refurb $85 2 months ago.

forget PC Chips!!!! Even if you do get it working it will die in 6 months.

can sumone suggest a good board around $40 to $70 under the brand names of abit, asus, dfi, epox, msi or gigabyte? and it has to be able to lock the agp/pci buses within the BIOS, and allows variation of core voltage, ram voltage, multipliers, and fsb?
it doesnt hav to have ALL the features, but the more the merrier:D

in my whole life, i ve only bought two motherboards, one that cant do crap and other i jus changed the fsb..this is y i am a noob at buying motherboards

can sumone post a link for a good board for an amd athlon xp 1700+? thanks
