I haven't used RAID in several years, in fact I was using 2 x 20gb IBM DeathStars in RAID 0 which was very good for what I had to work with. I am building a new box using 4 x WD 150 Raptors and I'm going to RAID them....I want some varied opinions on experiences with RAID 0+1, RAID 5, and RAID 10. What I'm looking for is the best speed with a good safety net for drive failure. RAID 10 looks like the least safest of the three, but has the possibility to be the fastest, so I need some experienced opinions. :)

That diagram for raid 0 is completely wrong. The difference between raid 0+1 and 10 is the order in which the striping and mirroring are applied.

Ph33r my leet Paint skillz, yo.

Raid 10 is probably the best choice, among those.

Thanks, thats the kind of imput I need. This is a high end system and I want to get it the best performance and stability I possibly can.... Vista will be the deciding factor though:D
