I have seen this before well an yway here it goes I have a p4 3.2 ghz, 5700 ultra 128 mb/128bit, 3500 1 gb of ram, Decent cooling 6 fans counting heatsink.... Heatsink operating at 4500 rpms

Well the main questions is sometimes when I play ut2004 my computer shuts down by itself and reboots my comp is brand new too. I am wondering if the 5700 ultra is bottle necking the system and causing it to shutdown.

Its mainly ut2004, I can run cs fine and that except for ut2004 and ravenshield.... I have had no other problems with my old machines and there ati cards, this is my first nivida and if Is the case makes me wonder if I should get the x800 pro instead of the 6800gt

Oh I dont have anyother agp cards I can test.

I'd say the 5700 is *probably* overheating, its not really a great card anyway...

I would still definatly get the GT over an X800Pro, in most cases, the GT is closer to XTPE performance than the Pro.

/\

Yould wouldnt happen to be on pbnation would you?

I dont know Ive had great luck with ati cards and never had a problem......

*EDIT PowerSupply is 560 watts.

Brand and rail values? My guess is a cheap PS, from what I've seen so far.

Its a thermaltake and I dont think it has anything to do with psu....

I put my money on the vid card.

have you opened the case and run a game in order to see if is overheating

is the gpu fan working?

Yeah everything is new, its dual channel 512 mb s each and the fans working.

In that case, no, it's probably not the PSU. These problems can often be the PSU though.

Does the 5700 have a thermal diode? Temps?

If it was the psu I believe it would restart very often like on my old comp which had a bad psu and would be a pain to start I bet its the video card.... still....
