i need help.

I am building a comp for a buddy and he wanted me to copy all his data, pics, etc from his old
hard drive to a new one but when I go to click on the old drive it says it need to be formatted. what's up
?
how can i get those files?

Can you boot it on the old machine and then copy stuff over network? You might have to resort to GetDataBack, which isn't free, but it's fairly cheap and a good investment.
