I need a codec for all formats

Is there a codec I can install for Windows Media player that will allow it to play nearly every form of video without any problems?

no
you can install ffdshow, which is like a bunch of codecs in one package that WMP can use

OR

get VLC media player
http://www.videolan.org/vlc/
which is a different media player that has most common codecs built in

The K-Lite Mega Codec Pack 1.38 works pretty well too.

Codec packs are usually not recommended... a lot of them install a whole bunch of crap to screw up your system. I'd recommend ffdshow Real Alternative and QT Alternative . You could also get Ogg if you have need it.

Those should be able to handle most of the files you're ever going to come across.

In addition to the codecs IanG just listed, I would also recomend Media Player Classic.

Ya i use the k-lite, but im sure theres spyware in that, oh well. Also sometimes i will get other problems after installing a pack. That the video will only play like 1 minute, but its actully a 5-10 minute movie....whats up with that...

I've been using Combined Community Codec Pack and havn't had a hiccup yet.
