I have an ATI Radeon 9800 Pro and i also hav Doom 3. Well anyway i dont understan why i cant turn on anti aliasing i hate it how their skin looks kinda choppy. Well u kno how the ATI Radeon 9800 Pro has two wires. One connects to the power supply and the other connects to the hard drive. I connected it to the power supply but i cant find NO way to connect it to the hard drive. I called technical support and they said that it wasnt necessary. But im probably thinking if i dont connect it to the hard drive some of the fancy features like anti aliasing cant be turned on. So does anyone kno if this effects the game in any way?

the 9800Pro only requires one Molex connector for power

you can split it from the hard drive if you want, or just run a dedicated Molex plug from your PSU if you have a free one, either way that's all you need to do

if you enable AA and the performance is choppy, that means that setting is too much in that game, you have to find the right balance of IQ and performance for your desires

a 9800 had one molex for power and one connector for the fan...

nothing goes to the hd from the ati card..maybe you mean you are splitting power with a hd on the one molex?

try driver cleaner and fresh 4.8 install and you should have aa af control.

I have a 9800 pro on my backup rig and I dont run AA on it just AF HQ settings

at 1024 it runs about 40 fps in the timedemo HQ....thats on a 1.6 @ 2.2 ghz p4.....

Not sure I understand what you are talking about. But you shouldn't need to plug it into the hard drive. IMO, it would actually be best to give it it's own molex connector. I don't know what you mean you can't turn anti aliasing on. But to do so you right click on the desktop, then click "properties" , then "settings" , then "advanced" , then the 3d tab, then opengl (for doom3 anyways) and you can figure it out from there. What resolution are you running in, because I run doom3 @ 1024x768 w/out aa/af and I don't really see that many "jaggies" it looks great to me. Hope that helps.

Edit: damn beaten twice lol I must type slow

yeah if i dont connecct my power connector to my 9800pro, it wont even boot properly. with a 9800pro, you really cant really run above 1024x768 with AA and AF on, it becomes choppy after that.

Funny, my 9800pro has a floppy connecter cable...
I think sapphire (maybe) made some 9800pro's on the 9700 pcb and used floppy connecter. I am not sure @ all though, just sorta remember seeing a sapphire 9800pro on newegg w/ a floppy connector.

Yeah, it's sapphire.

It's also black, or kinda brown. Looks kinda like shit...
