i am having problems with a new computer i built...at first it was working fine...but when i came home it started messing up...when i start the comp up sometimes it will go to a screen that says insert bootable media and sometimes it will go to the windows boot screen but give me a blue screen shortly after...oh and when i boot up it gives 1 beep....i went to the bios and before it recognized my hard drive (serial ata) and now it doesnt have it on there...can any help plz

i have a
p4 3ghz
1.5 gb of ram
80gb serial ata
geforce fx5700 ultra 128mb ddr 2 memory
sound blaster audigy 2 zs
p4p800 motherboard

don't all computers give 1 beep when they are started ???

all the ones @ school do, and mine does...i don't think that 1 beep has anything to do w/the problem.

Try running memtest...

The blue screen immeadiatley following could mean bad memory, however, can you tell us what the BSOD calls to? Then we could better help.

the bsod goes away to fast so i dont get a chance to read whats on it...it just goes to the windows xp boot screen and while it shows the bar it blue screens and restarts

when it gets to that screen hit the "Pause Break" key on the keyboard.

its by the prnt scrn Sysrq & Scroll Lock
