While the Xeons obliterated the competition even with HT disabled, once we flipped that magical HT switch we saw an additional 25.5% increase in total SELECT queries per second."
 
My only gripe with that article (And it's a small one) is that CONFIG_SMP was set for the non-HT tests. That would add some overhead and slow the machine down. Not much, but a tiny yet measurable bit.
 
It will be real interesting to see how the 2.6 kernel performs under even larger setups and as memory in the system expands. This kernel is supposed to be radically different than previous versions as far as memory handling for SMP goes.
