Just buildt a P4 550 system with hyperthreading and have a question.

Which CPU is the physical and which is the logical for setting affinity?
CPU0 or CPU1.

Also which graph is which? I think the second graph is the logical but what to be sure.

And the last question.
When I'm running BF2 Demo all the cpu usage is on the second cpu graph, what I believe is the logical. If this is true am I loosing a performance?

very few (if any) games are multi threaded. in other words a HT or dual core chip has no advantage in gaming, so theres no way to balance the load of BF2
 
the whole "physical" and "logical" nomenclature doesn't really mean anything. Like there's nothing "made up" about the second thread, and running things on the "second cpu" doesn't make them any slower than the first. From a hardware standpoint, the two threads are identical. (there's just two schedulers/etc.) OS's really don't know how to address hyperthreading correctly, since it really is an oddball kind of system.

They're both logical divisions of the same physical CPU. The division is symmetrical - there's no gimpy "semi-CPU" involved.
 
so if i understand it correctly setting affinity to either of the cpus will have no affect on performance, unless the software is designed to be SMP aware.
 
Lolz dw about it too much about the graphs, you won't lose any performance, just enjoy your new intel rig. And why didn't you get a 600 series?
