i think you all can see whats wrong..

it started friday and on saturday i opened up my comp and checked what was up

blew away some dust from the card and changed the the cable that goes from the psu to the graphics card, there were 2 of them, and it worked fine all saturday but now today the problem started again.

i have a dell dimension 8300 with a radeon 9800 pro 128mb.

i guess it's not the screen since the problem shows up on screenshots.

anything i can to or should i just call dell and tell them to bring a new card?

the computer is about 1.5-2 years old btw
 
Is it always like this? Or does it only happen at certain times, like when you're playing a game? Looks like it's overheating. You could try reinstalling drivers, but it looks like it's toast. If I were you I would call up Dell and ask for a replacement card.

it started on friday while playing wow. but now it seems to start at random, playing or just being on desktop.

right now it's fine tho.

i formated my harddrive yesterday and installed everything fresh and that didnt help for long.
 
Looks like it's RMA time :( Call up Dell and see if you're still under warranty.
 
I almost cried when I saw that. Went through the same experience. Replace the card.
 
called dell on monday morning and had a new card in my hands on tuesday afternoon :)

Looks like artifacts, usually better case cooling will fix this as it's a result of the card overheating. Did the fan on the cooler die?

RMA it just in case.
 
Lines that are usually caused by a bad memory chip on the card

Also - why start a 2nd thread about this...
 
my buddy was expereincing the exact same problems with his trusty 9700pro, he feared the video was goin out.....but it was his PS goin out. swapped the PS problem solved, no issues anymore.....


the cheapest route is the first path taken when troubleshooting possibly dead componenets i say
