An executive with Taiwanese mobile phone maker HTC (High Tech Computer) claims the company is already working on a Google phone and will start selling it in the second half of 2008. My question is this...with Android being freely available to other phone makers, what would make you buy the HTC-made Googlephone?

The Google phone that HTC is working on could end up causing it some headaches. HTC is known as the world's largest maker of handsets that use Microsoft Windows Mobile software, a rival to Android. Should Android's popularity take off, HTC could cannibalize some of its own sales as well as those of partner Microsoft. That's certainly not HTC's intention.

if it has a geforce go in it, I'll be the first in line! I want to see what Microsoft is going to do about all of this.

About the iPhone... it's dead, Jim.

sweet ill be getting one :D but then... ill still have to use my nokia 3220b until then

My last 3 phones Vario 1 , 2 & now 3 are from HTC/HTC Kaiser. I think (vario is the T-mobile brand name)
Excellent devices in so many ways. Don't see why I would want Google in my HTC phone tbh

I think they would be very happy to sell Android (royalty free) OS phones. Though they would want to keep Microsoft happy until they take off.

Thats actually kind of cool to hear. I mean I don't know much about Googles intention with this new phone they're making besides the obvious. What I'm looking at is the versatility of the HTC phones. I know there are other phones out there that can probably do the same thing, but when I had to pickup a PDA type phone for work I had many options to choose from, including the iPhone. The capabilities the HTC Hermes offered me was amazing. I can do just about anything with this phone, anything from downloading files directly from my computer at any given time to playing my favorite NES games *Legend of Zelda* via Emulator.

I suppose since Google will be implementing its own OS for the phone it probably wont have the same versatility that my current HTC phone has, although you know the capabilities are there. If their OS allows you to do more then I will be awe struck, I hope it allows you the same features if not more. I'm very curious to see what Google has to offer.

HTC is way ahead of anyone else in PDA Phone design...

My thoughts are they will likely do a much better job than their competitors would. ;)

i have a T-Mobile Dash which is made by HTC, by far the best phone ive used in a while, its nice and really thin (makes all those blackberry users jealous hehe) and still manages to be pretty quick

i would definately buy a HTC "gPhone"
