HSF Question for the noobishness

I recently purchased the rig (sig) from monarch and itll be here shortly. I also purchased the zalman 9500, as5, and the arcticlean stuff. When I get the computer, I will uninstall the stock amd hsf (from opty 165) and install the zalman.

The question is this:

Do I use the arcticlean to clean/"polish" both the hsf surface and the cpu heatspreader?

I think so, but then I never did that, just whiped the old paste off and put new paste on, although they say not to do that I did and my temps are fine.

Most people highly reccomend that u use some sort of 99% alchol or something to clean the old paste of though, then just use a very thin layer of paste on the heatsink.

yeah the alchohol stuff is the arciclean...i know enough to just put alittle on the hs.

Do I spread or just let the weight spread it out?

I just put a glob in the middle then put the headsink on it, works fine although you should monitor temps after you install it.

Yes, you should try the ArctiClean to make sure the mating surfaces are absolutely clean. I myself just use 99% isopropyl alcohol.

the arcticlean works great. just used it tonight to swap my 3000+ stock cooler for the FX60's stock cooler.

put 3-4 drops of the 1st bottle stuff on the HS, let it sit 20 seconds or so, then wipe all the crud off. you may have to do this twice.

then put 2-3 drops of the 2nd bottle stuff on there and use a coffee filter to polish it. repeat this until no more grey stuff comes off.

repeat this process for the IHS on your cpu.
