HP needs HP ram?

my hp a450n, has 512mb, im looking to upgrade this to 1 gig. does my HP computer need to have HP specific memory for it to work? their support site sucks

last time i saw something about memory, they just talked about getting it from an authorized dealer, but doesnt say if i need their ram or not, also the first link says chipset is 848p and the second link says it has 865p...

the hp site says this: Purchase memory modules from an HP or an authorized HP Dealer or reseller or purchase memory from your local computer supply store.

No any good reputable DDR RAM should work.

For you I would suggest Kingston, or Corsair Value Series from newegg.

Use Crucials site if your in doubt http://www.crucial.com they have the most compatible ram.

You answered your own question. If you need help, let me know. All of our systems use standard memory, not anything proprietary.

ok thanks guys, ill order from crucial, they also have this easy 3 step process, where i just chose my pc manufacturer, and pc model, and they gave me the list for memory. also if there is problems, is it gonna be a pain to return products, ive ordered books from amazon but never really needed to return anything
