i've had the hp psc 750 printer-scanner-copier for about two years now. sometimes i have a problem with a communication between the printer and the pc. right now i'm trying to scan in a picture, but they aren't talking to each other. the usb cable is plugged in, and everything is connected fine to the printer. any ideas for a quick fix?

I Dont know how much you know about computers :D , but have you tried downloading the latest driver from hp's website??? That would deffinitaly be the easiest way to fix it...

i looked, and it's 60 megs. i'm on dial-up so i figured i'd see if there were any other options. plus, it's worked for 1 1/2 years, why would it stop working now?

I see your using xp home, did you download any resent updates or service packs?
The driver included 1-2 years ago was probably written before or just after windows xp, and dosent fully support it. Im not saying it is the problem, but its the most likely explination. Go to a friends house and dl it, then burn it to a disk...
edit: it could also be a bad cable, have you tried another?

nope, no service packs. i'll think about that. but can someone answer me why the all-in-one would be acting up now as opposed to when i first bought the computer? darndest thing.

update- called hp cust. service, to no avail. tried unplugging and resetting everything, did a system restore back to yesterday, everything is plugged in. the HP 700 Series Director, which i use to scan and copy, allows me to copy, and when i press scan it just gives me the hourglass for a second and then doesn't load. then i gave up and went to

Start --> Programs --> Accessories --> Scanner and Camera Wizard

and scanned the pic in fine. it seems that the scanner is working and talking, but the button is broken. i would rather not go through the entire uninstall and reinstall, so i figure i'll give it a night and maybe it will work tomorrow if it's turned off all night.
