I haven't heard anyone talk about this. Anyone have one? What are your thoughts on it?

I wasnt a huge fan of it. Maybe it was just the demo model they sent our company but I found that going to web sites that use white text on a black background (IE [H]) caused a lot of blurring around the text and made it difficult to read.

That and with the slow response time... its not really a great deal. Stick with the 172x.

really? I can't decide between the two. I'm not sure exactly what the difference is between PVA and TN..does this mean the 173P has better colors?

I was more impressed with the 172x, it gave more depth to the images. That one also has a really crappy 25ms response time where the 172x has a 12ms response time.

I currently have a 173P and I'm really happy with it. The 2d quality is amazing, pictures are very clear, text is very sharp and clean, and the monitor can tilt 90 degrees which is a great feature. The color reproduction is also very good, it's not a CRT, but its the best i've seen in an LCD. DVD playback is great, no noticeable ghosting. However there is minor ghosting in FPS games, it's not bad by any means and if you have used a 25ms screen before you wouldn't think this was one. You will also adjust to the ghosting very quickly, and it will not affect your gaming performance either. The reason I decided to pick this screen instead of the 172x is because of the monitor as a whole, the 173P has awesome specs and the best viewing angle for most LCD's out, the 90 degree tilt and 2d quality is why I sacrificed a 16ms response time and went ahead and got a 173P. I also must say that i've heard great things about the 172x, no ghosting at all, good dvd playback, and it got great reviews as well. Hope it helps and GL!
