i know that people have asked this befor but the forum search isnt working... how can i find the specs of the memory on my video card? i looked on google but didnt come up with anything, maybe i wasnt using the right wording.

Google is generally your friend for this, however....

manufacturers generally put the RAM's latency in NS on the chip, some somthing like MFGPARTNO-5 --> the -5 is what you care about- then figure the speed of it with this formula- 1000/x, or in this case 1000/5 = 200mhz clock- now, if its DDR, multiply by 2, and you will have the DDR speed that its running at.

however, that formular is wat it would theoreticaly run at, but they normaly crank up cas speeds etc... so the theory speed is normaly higher than the max achiveable. :(

Correct, however, it is likely to be just as accurate as the spec pages from the particular memory manufacturer (which doesn't mean much ;))

cool, thanks for the answers. i knew about the "-5" part signifying the the speed on the ram but i thought that there was a way to get detailed specs, like a webpage to look it up on. anyway i got the answer i was looking for. i was just trying to figure out that the limit might be for overclocking the ram on the video card. i have an albatron fx5200 that normally runs at 250/266 but seems to run fine at 296/394 so i wont push it anymore. but it think i might swap it for something better like at 9600xt or 5700u, i just dont feel like dropping $500 on a high-end card.
