How to do dual display + Nvidia ?

Hey guys -

I just got the Viewsonic 20" Widescreen to replace my 19inch Phillips LCD. Now that i got both monitors i want to run dual display.

On my older system with a Radeon 9800 it was very easy to do. With this 7800Gt i cant for the life of me get it setup to how i had my old dual display.

My old setup was with a CRT and the Philips 19inch LCD.

I had the 19inch LCD on 1280x1024 as my main display with the start menu only on that display. On the CRT i had it as 1024x768 and this was just a blank screen where i would drag my windows too.

For my current setup i want to set this up the same.

I want my Viewsonic to be 1680x1050, and i want it to have the start menu only(primary monitor). My older 19inch LCD i just want to be set to 1280x1024 and have only windows i drag to it as my slave machine.

I fooled around with Nview and all that but when i do Horizonal Stretch the displays get all wierd looking adn the start menu goes across.

Can someone help me out and walk me through it?
 
what you want is duel view, thats where the 2 monitors function indpendintly of each other, as in maximizing on one window wont spread it across both screens. after plugging the second monitor in and enabling both monitors restart your computer and the duel view option should be there
 
Get a program called ULTRAMON.. best monitor manipulation program ive ever used.. its easy to use. and best thing, its FREE!!

Just go into the NV control panel and to the display settings tab... I run dual view every day, no third party apps needed.
 
Reboot your computer with both monitors pluged in and turned on, then go here:

click on the box with the "2" on it (second monitor's settings) and select the box marked "Extend my Windows Desktop onto this monitor".

Adjust the settings for each monitor acordingly, you can even drag around the position of each monitor so that your mouse will move from one screen to the next properly.
 
marley1, just curious if you tried, but could your 9800pro handle the vx2025. I have a 9800pro and I wonder if it could handle the higher res, like that. Especially since I play a lot of CS:S. I play at 1280x960 on my crt but I am getting tired of my big ass CRT. If you are bored, could you check that out, as long as u still got the 9800pro, thanks a bunch.
 
ok i rebooted and got dual view. However my mouse wont cross over to the secondary monitor to adjust settings.

*nevermind lol i gotta sweep right to get next monitor. Counter-intuitive since my secondary monitor is on my left.

You can click and drag the 2nd monitor icon to your left in the Display Propertise>Settings.
