How to change folding core?

I just got SMP back up again, but I forgot to run it with the extra parameters and got a single folding core. How do I get the FAH client to download a new one that supports multiple processors?

Re-run the client using -configonly. Under "advanced settings" it will go in the "Additional client parameters []?" setting. Or you can add it as a swich to the executable in your shortcut by putting a "space" -smp.

I think you have to delete the 'work' folder and queue.dat file. You should get a SMP WU after that providing the client is properly configured.

Oops... my previous post should have said to add "-smp" in the Additional Client Parameters prompt. If you start the client without the -smp it will run in single core mode.

It's not a bad idea to run -smp -configonly during setup. Then edit it to -smp -forceasm

Agreed, that's unfortunate but I'll ask Peter if he can add a option like there is one for advmethods (either say yes or use the -advmethods flag)

No, that's -forceasm. -advmethods is to get more advanced workunits with better bonuses, but with more risks of issues (usually, advmethods is the next step after beta to make sure it works fine in the wild before it become a normal unit. Some units will stay under advmethods due to a bigger memory, download/upload or disk use).

Not really, the only use was with the console client and then, it's almost useless. Most clients include this flag by default or implement a better sse crash handling routine (basically what -forceasm do).

Hey 'CoW]8(0), welcome to the crowd that's done the same thing. What I did, which may or may not be good for science, was just to uninstall the whole mess and reinstall it. I included the -smp and -advmethods flags behind the executable on the desktop icon before executing the program the first time, I also invoked the -advmethods thing in the initial configaration.So far everything is copacetic

I hope this helps I really don't know "jack" about any other flags

If you didn't install as a service, you can just delete the folder.

Go into the control panel, and if XP: use add/remove programs to uninstall; if Vista: go to Program something, and you can uninstall from there.
