NUNCA, welcome to the forums...as stated above cut the caps, be neighborly and enjoy the forums :)

Guys, it's rude to hotlink images. Host them yourself. You're using up maddox's bandwidth.

Mods?

do you want an AMD or Intel setup...

what are you going to be using the computer for?

do you need a monitor?

do you need an OS?

these will give us a good start... if there was a "best" computer then everyone would have it...

build something that will suit your needs the best... and not have things you don't need

maddox gets a bajillion hits a day. i think he can handle one hot link.

That may be true, but we don't encourage bandwidth theft at the [H] ;)

NUNCA, to build a computer you would first need a multi-billion dollar factory to make the cpu's, and another multi-billion dollar factory for building the motherboard, etc, etc, etc....

Now for assembling a computer, there are many nice guides around, here is a few.....

http://www.daileyint.com/build/

http://www.sharkyextreme.com/hardware/guides/build_computer/

http://www.pcmech.com/byopc/

http://www.acme.com/build_a_pc/

(Gah, even those sites calls it "build" , "weee, i build my own pc...", yeah right... :D )

/edit

Hey, why doesnt the [H] have a guide on that  , someone put one togheter :D

MSI 180 barebones ~300
AMD 2600 2gigahtz ~92
Maxtor 250gig HDD ~200
dvdrw ~100-200 depending on what you like
512 ddr333 ~100

thats about 900 and leaves you 100 for a wireless keyboard and mouse...

hows that?
