How much would it.....

cost me to switch over to an Intel system?

I want the most bang for the buck Intel Cpu plus the extra stuff I need, depending on how much I can sell the stuff I already have currently in my sig.

New cpu, new motherboard, DDR2 memory.

Which is the most bang for the buck and needs good overclocking capabilities.

My current rig is in my sig.. durr... FX-55 is running @ 3.05ghz if that means anything :)

For me, I bought:

Asus P5B Deluxe
2gb OCZ Platinum EL XTC RAM
E6300

That cost me about 640$ Canadian with taxes and shipping, so about 525 USD (considering you normally get free shipping or no taxes).

This thing is a BEAST. With my OC in sig, I'm scoring just over 17.1 seconds to complete the 1M test in SuperPi.

I also score, on average, 9FPS in Oblivion over my X2 at 2.66ghz... That's about 13 FPS in a fight, or just about 6 while running around outside. This is at 1440x900

I can get it to 3556 mhz unstable (fails orthos in about 45 minutes) and it completes SuperPi 1M in 16.5 seconds :).

Bang for the buck:

Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-945P-S3
CPU: E6400
RAM: dunno...

The reason I suggest the E6400 over the E6300 is because you'll need pretty decent ram to hit the really high FSBs... which might cancel out the effect of having the less expensive processor. I think there are a couple of cheap and cheerful sticks of RAM... Team and Patriot I think?

Anyway, good luck with all that

Chris

Agree with 6400 instead of 6300. Higher multiplier, less expensive ram and mild overclocking does not need new HS.
