Ok here is what I am running now. 2500k oced to 4.4, 1ssd and 1 regular hdd, 6 case fans, 2 optical drives and an oced gtx 570. I am running this off a corsair 750w but am very hesitant to add another oced gtx 570 with only 750w. I saw this posu and the price looks good but dont know much about it.

I also like this one but it's more expensive and less power

I am open to suggestions but I don't want to be maxing out my psu.

Thanks

All three of those PSUs are actually pretty good, but realistically, your current 750W PSU is enough for a second GTX 570 as well. I would stick with what you've got.

Yes, it should still be enough. Try it first, and if you experience instability or sudden shutdowns, then you can consider getting a new PSU.

Ok, maybe ill give that a try first and see but if that xion unit is decent that is cheap for 1000w at $110 after rebate.

It's cheap and it's a decent PSU, but it's not that great compared to what else is out there, and I have no idea how good or bad Xion's service is in case you end up having problems.

Nothing wrong with your current psu. Its got more than enough juice

Pulled this off a review of the gtx 570

GeForce GTX 570 in 2-way SLI

A second card requires you to add another ~225 Watts. You need a 750+ Watt power supply unit if you use it in a high-end system (800+ to a KiloWatt is recommended if you plan on any overclocking).

Do you think they are over compensating a bit?

I think you might be borderline, but I don't think we can say for sure if you need more power. It's your choice whether or not you want to buy another PSU.

I'm guessing you pulled that off guru3d, as they always always always bump the numbers up for no real reason that I can understand (it doesn't even make sense when they bench their system to use like 350W, 5 lines later they recommend you get a 500W PSU, wtf).

@OP: You could probably run dual gtx570s on a 650W with a heavy overclock if you were a risktaker, a 750 gives you room to breathe easy. The Corsair 750tx (which is what I assume you have) is a nice quality PSU, if a bit dated. It will be able to handle almost any dual GPU combo on the market, except maybe SLI 480s (some people recommend 850 for 580s, but a 750 could probably run that depending...).

EDIT: If you do get the upgrade itch, I would pass on the OCZ ZX, it's decent but nothing special, an older design, made by Highpower. I'd be wary of a 1000W gold rated PSU at $150 really. The HX is a very nice unit, as is the AX850

The ZX line is made by Great Wall. The old Z series was made by Sirfa.

Ok thanks, I am leaning towards the zx 1000w for $140 after rebates or waiting for the hx850 to drop to around $130 after rebates. I have second desktop that I can use my current psu in and am not sure I want to risk it with a brand new sandy bridge build. It would suck to have it burn out some parts because I over did it.

750 might be enough.

I'm using SLi GTX 480s overclocked and an i7 930 at 4.3Ghz on a 850W PSU and it runs fine.

GTX 570s and the 2500K all use less power than my cards and my CPU.

The Xoin psu go under 3 names.

AXP-1000P14HE not certified
AXP-1000R14HE (lan Party ed) Certified
Xon-1000R14HE Supernova - not certified

And the
OCZZ550
OCZZ650 were made by FSP which has been discontinued and the ZS is series coming out will also be made by FSP
