alright so I got a fully loaded laptop with dvi and vga port in the back the laptop got a 17inch screen

and I got a 20.1 widescreen monitor

and just got a 32 inch hdlcd tv

which one should I make it the main monitor
and which one should I put it on the side

and oh.. I got a xbox360 also..
how should I run that?
vga? compoent?
help..
and can the laptop run on two other screens?

well I am thinking about making my hdlcd tv to the main monitor

and put the lcd on the side
and maybe not use the laptop's screen

will the notebook run two other monitors?
and I can just plug in another keyboard to use on different monitors rights

Yeah this would work, remember that most 32" LCD Tv's support a native res of 1366 by something. This makes everything very big, though that may suit you. Please clarify what you intend. If you are running both off of the laptop you won't need two keyboards, you'll just have alot of real estate from your single laptop. Specify what you want like

1. Xbox on HDTV as well as use as a monitor with the smaller one for comp.

2. XBOX on 20.1 with HDTV as monitor and....blah:eek: tell us what inputs each has and we will be able to help you a whole hell of alot more. Also, what laptop?

oh sorry about that

well the monitor has 7800go and on the back it has dvi and vga
I am currently using a mx518 gamer mouse using the usb port

I got the viewsonic 2025w 20.1 lcd which has built in speakers and vga, dvi port
currently it is connected to the dvi port on the laptop

and I got the viewsonic 32incher hdlcd tv which has everything connector on it
dvi, vga, compoent, rca and etc

I am trying to connect all 3 on the laptop

oh and the xbox360 I have vga port and compoent and other and rca connector
currently I am connecting 360 to the viewsonic 2025w using vga port and the built in speakers on the monitor

I guess I want to mainly play 360 on the 32incher, and play my computer games maybe on the 20.1 incher at times and 32incher at times too because I know some games will look better on the 20.1 incher...

and I will do mainly my work on the 17incher lappie lcd...
but who knows.. I just need some help setting this up... :)

thanks for the help man...

Here's what I'm thinking, bear with me. What you could do is something like this.

Use your DVI for the viewsonic and purchase a KVM switch for use with the XBOX and HDTV over VGA. You could also just use the XBOX with the component input, though I hear the VGA pq is generally more refined. I wouldn't use the HDTV for your main monitor because of the low res.

You don't need to purchase a keyboard, but if you use the 20.1 as your main monitor and you don't want to tilt your head, I would recommend.

Nvidia (as well as ATI) offer great software solutions to get configurations like these right. You may need a third party program like powerstrip to get the native res of the HDTV to display correctly.

It could be sweet to have two screens for whatever and a media player on your HDTV.

Let me know if this helps! :)

If you used a KVM switch, you could run the VGA for the XBOX and laptop VGA to your HDTV. This would free up DVI and give you best pq on XBOX rather than using components. Your really only using it as a Video switch. Less hassle in my estimation. You could always just unplug the VGA cables, but if your like me I'm lazy.

I would run the viewsonic lcd 2025w through dvi

and I would run the viewsonic 32inch lcd through vga

and then I would run the xbox360 on the 32incher's compoent then?
wouldnt that be better?

or perhaps run the 360 on the vga on the viewsonic
I guess it really depends rights?

from what I learned the vga can run 1080i on the lcd?
and compoent is only 720p?

This is what I would do, pick up a docking bay with monitor stand for your laptop.

Hook up the DVI from the laptop to the 20" screen and use that as your main display.

Hook up the VGA from the laptop to the 32" and use that for when you want to do PC games on the TV.

Hook up the 360 to the TV via component, or a second DVI port if it has one (and if the 360 has a DVI adapter availible, I have never looked).

Buy an external keyboard for use with the laptop when it is docked, for me at least, laptop keyboard suck, and you will need an external keyboard to use it docked with a monitor stand.

whats up!

I tried to set it up today
and it was kind of weird

so I tried to plug in the viewsonic hdtv to vga and leaving the viewsonic lcd on dvi... then nothing is on the hdlcd tv

but when I take out the dvi link for the lcd viewsonic then viewsonic tv then works...
so I guess.. it can't run 3 monitors at the same time?

dell Lcd laptop + viewsonic hdlcd tv + viewsonic lcd?
hmm..

alright guys.. I just found out from nvidia that
7800go only supports 1 external monitor, the 2 connectors, dvi, vga is just to be more flexible.. :(
:(
