well, supposedly the new 74G raptor is faster than the new 150GB raptor.

Well, the raptor you mentioned already lost that title. It belongs to the 150 gig model(without the window, don't get me started), not the 74 gig drive.

Sounds more like you want it for bragging rights than anything else. Might want to put your money somewhere it'll do more for you, honestly.

Since when was I coming off as someone who wanted to brag? I simply wanted more performance with the least amount of money. If I wanted bragging rights, I would have purchased 6 raptors 74gb 8mb cache and raided them.

So when do you start counting?

When the bios screen goes black or when the XP screen first appears, cause the harddrive is working before that screen come sup

and is this to your login screen, or to when you are in windows and everything is loaded ?

cause i dont beleive 5seconds, i have used 15k SCSI drives that dont even get into windows that fast.



Anyways, the new seagate 7200.10 750g drives are competing somewhat with 150g raptors as well.

Most of us refer to the time to boot. As the time from pushing the power button to the time we can launch an application.
