How fast are LCD prices falling

I'm in lust with a 30" 2500x1600 LCD, but they're currently outside my budget. I'm debating waiting until the prices drop by a factor of 2+, or picking up a 1920x1200 LCD in the near future as a stopgap to replace my aging CRT. I'd like to have a better idea how long I'd have to hold out before my dream monitor and my budget become compatable.

A couple months ago they were falling quite nicely but it seems to have leveled off lately. However..it seems that models that have been on the market for close to a year are being discounted in anticipation of the new models.

I expect a pricefall in January. So you have to be able to get through Christmas without the new stuff....very difficult.

And I think the 20" and 21" TFT are overpriced. The gap between 20"21" and 24" is too small.
Paying around 700-800 for a quality 20""21" or 1000 for 24". Even $800 for the NEW BenQ FP241 24".And the Dell 24" is shorely competing with the to expensive 20""21".

Yeah, it was the really big drop between now and what I recalled seeing a year ago that made me begin to think the new monitors I've been lusting over might actually be within my grasp, but I only had semi vague recolections of them being much higher and nothing I could try and plot trendlines with.

I'm looking at late winter/early spring at the soonest for a buy. I just replaced my abit mobo with a DFI lanparty and it seems my PSU's barely able to power the system I have now, and I'd really like to have a cheap laptop for roadtrips that'll probably come ahead of a new monitor in my budget. There's nothing actively wrong with my current CRT but it's a cheap 17" 1600x1200 that I bought back in summer 2000 and after 6.5 years MTBF is starting to catch up with it.
