I have abolutly no clue, im going to be getting a 3400+ s939, OCZ PC3200-EL "EB PLATINUM" 2-3-2-5 timmings, A8V Deluxe mobo and a XP-90 with panaflow so i want to OC, but i have this phobia of insuficient data when doing somthing, could somone explain how you do an overclock and how everything works please?

Changing the clock speed in the BIOS is cake, all you need to do is go into the right menu and change the HTT(FSB) speed (A64s have locked multipliers). Just make sure everything's hooked up right and check the system's stability after any real OC, A64s automatically shutoff long before they get too hot so there's really nothing to worry about.

and dont make a mistake i did by getting an nforce 150.. but i see u got urself a great mb already.. and gl on ur overclocking :)

I heard that they are locked for changing the multiplier higher, but you can go lower cant you? and what about the core V? and thanks ;) i hope everything goes well. :D

yeha u can go lower and the v core on that motherboard should be overclockers friendly.. and i am sure eveything will go pretty well :).. but when u get the system.. break it in a bit and run some cpu intensive apps before overclocking to break it in a bit

since when do they make a 3400+ s939 cpu? the s939 only comes in 3000+, 3200+, 3500+ and 3800+ flavors

Why would they have a 3000, 3200, and not a 3400? i assure you there is, i ordered one, which SHOULD be here in about 2 hours, or tomarrow
just for those who think i read it wrong ;)

AMD 3400+ s939

Can you change the Memory and FSB speeds on AMD64 boards?
It'd be nice to throw some DDR500 or DDR550 memory in those suckers.

From what I understand you can't tweak with FSB or Memory, is this true?

thx!

 oh shit....thanks alot, no i didnt read that....oh that sucks, wtf is tigerdirect doing......jeesh, this is te first thing that ive ordered from tigerdirect and if it doesn't work then there not going to have a good reputation  although i wont know untill i get the rest of my parts wich will probably be in like a montha and a half atleast

i've heard lots of bad things bout TD... :( good luck on getting the right combo in working condition! if not, we'll be here to back you up :-/

Thanks alot guys, i really appreciate it.... so should i claim the rebate anyways before i test it, because im not sure it will work :(

If you are looking for a good Canadian online retailer, I highly recommend NCIX.com. I have dealt with them many times, never a problem, great prices too.

Yeah, im going to be ordering my RAM from there, pretty good prices to ....and most likly more reliable then TD  but, i guess i cant really do anything, until i try it, i might just send the CPU back if it doens't work, then put in a few extra and get the 3500........im not sure if they will let me tho.
