how does this look?

1) gamers go with the a64
2) thats an upgrade to xp pro, not the actual os...
saw a nice 19 incher a few days ago....

dunno about speakers, i got klipsch, but mine werent cheap....

Please, please dont buy something for $100 more than the MSRP, thats just stupid and encourages those kind of buisness practices

Get the NEC 2510 instead of that Lite On burner
savings = $16

Get an A64 3400+ and MSI nForce3 K8N Neo Platinum instead of the Intel setup (don't forget to get a new HSF)
savings = $57

Get the Antec TruePower 480 instead of the Antec True Control 550
savings = $23

Get the full version of XP Pro.
cost = $57

Wait 2 weeks for the price on that video card to drop to retail.
savings = $100

Monitor: Dell has the Viewsonic VP171B on sale for $500 and they have a Total Satisfaction return policy, which means they will exchange it for even one dead pixel.

Speakers: I'd get some Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 which are around $130.

hes dead set on intel
now he wants the prescott 3.2 instead
i had to tlk him down from 2x1gb sticks of ram... silly kid

when the bfg one comes back instock at bestbuy, should he just get that one... its 450 on sale right now... and they might have one at the store

don't get a prescott, get a northwood

he wants a prescott. itried to get him to go a64... but he wouldnt budge.he knows of the heat issues, but wants the extra cache. it is his computer, and he has the final say. all i can do is lend a vioce of suggestion.

ok, i made a new wishlist, cause i accidentally cleared the other one...
the klipsh 2.1s is what i was thinking too.

bestbuy has them on for 150, and then a 15 dollar MIR

looks like a $20 rebate, $136.74 AR and with tax - lowest price so far

recoomend some speakers and moniter for whats left

Sound like he has some money to play with.... so why settel for a P4 when he can get a good Althlon 64 system for that....?

And mabey for about the same price...get 2 36gig raptors and run raid 0

yeah... his dad has some money to play with...

he just doesnt want an a64... i told him it would probably wipe a p4's ass with its face(??) but he wants an intel. i wouldnt want him to have raid.. im sure he knows about it, but one fuck up, and guess who he comes looking for...

No RAID unless it's RAID 1. I say forget all about RAID and get him a 74GB Raptor for his boot drive and a nice big IDE drive for storage.

yup. raid mirror better for users on regular pc (mo). i like above poster suggestions of 74 raptor for boot and extra for storage - makes sense for regular consumer pc. crazy if he want's the E over the northwood though. northwood will run cooler (by a nice margin) and perform better for the money.
