How does SLI affect pricing?

Just imagine. If a company makes video card A which is a top end card and it costs let's say $400, then two cards that perform as well in SLI cannot less than $200 each or the company making that card wouldn't be able to sell their top end card. So, in some ways, it means that they will resist giving you a better deal on the less expensive video cards.

Isn't that weird? Maybe that's why the sudden drop in th cost of the 7800 GTX. I wonder if we have two $300 cards paired together today that could beat or match the 7800 GTX.
