How do u format hard drive?

What disk?

You could throw in your Windows XP disk then reboot, follow the on screen instructions.

Isn't working how? Why would you reformat if you can't reinstall?

Are you sure its not a raid or 3rd party sata driver problem since you have sata raptors?
 
You aren't giving us a lot to help you with...

Between the 2 of you....you don't have a working copy?
What OS does he have right now?

How is the XP disk not working? Errors? disk broken?

What harddrive does he have?
Most companies have programs to help setup and format hard drives....
