How do the HSF's go on the Intel Procs?

Man, I am so used to AMD< have no clue.

How do the two clips work to attach the HSF?

Put it on, one clamps to the left and one clamps to the right, make sure the clamps are making contact with their holes on the bracket.

Also make sure the heatsink is not hitting the retention bracket or you can break a clip if you force it to lock in place. It should lock very smoothly with minimal force.

Yeah... Intel heatsinks > socket A heatsinks by like 10000 times.

Just click on and flip those two levers... pulling it off is a bit more difficult but nothing as bad as the AMD spring thing for socket A mobos.

775 Anyone? lol.
I dont particularily like the 775 HSF. It cools well for a stock cooler but the retention mechanims arent fully compatible with 3rd party boards.
They are a tiny bit too short IMO. So what ends up happening is the mobo gets bent in really bad so that the little pegs can latch through to the other side of the mobo.

1. But the basic idea is simple; place the HSF on the CPU.
2. Make sure its sitting flat and not leaning on any other mobo components(capacitors and what have you).
3. Push the Retention pegs down until they click and latch onto the underside of the mobo.
4. Try to latch the opposing corners simultaneously, not the adjacent corners.

Installing a water block onto the LGA775s is so much easier and gentle on the mobo.

On the top of each peg, there is a 1/4 circle arrow. The direction the arrow is pointing, is the way you turn it to remove it, so make sure when you are going to press it in, that it is not in the release position. Hmmm... I think I may have complicated the issue... Wish I wasn't too lazy to find a pic and do some diagrams ;(
