How do I test for _total_ input lag?

I've seen this site: http://tft.vanity.dk/

...and I've read the instructions.

However, I'm a bit confused. Wouldn't you see the input lag DIFFERENCE between the two monitors?

I'd like to see how much total lag there is on each monitor.

(Also, do HDMI switches or splitters typically introduce any lag? I'll probably test them out once I figure this out...)

Yes, that site is used to help determine the input lag difference between two monitors.
The trick, of course, is that you should be comparing against a CRT. Since CRTs have zero input lag to begin with, it would give you the total input lag of the LCD you're trying to test.

Thanks the help.

So I can connect any CRT using a DVI-to-VGA adapter and use that to determine the total lag?

Yes. Side-by-side live comparison between CRT and LCD (both monitors hooked up at the same time) gives you the total lag of the LCD.
