How do i go about.......

Well if it's anything like my GF2 Ti there's two push pins that you have to squeeze from the underside of the card. But before you do that I would recommend running the card in a system for a while if at all possible. This will heat up the TIM and make removal of the heatsink a lot easier. After you remove the push pins it's just a matter of gently twisting the heatsink from side to side untill it releases.

Ok i did what you exactly said. As soon as i took one of those pegs out the GPU cooler popped right off! This goop had to be old because this video card would get soooo hot, it would almost burn you to touch it. NOw that i have takin it off, would it be safe for me to plug in the card to make sure it still works? I just want to turn the computer on with the card in to see if the card is working. Is that safe? I'm planning on using 70% alcohol to remove the goop, is that ok?

You work fast, lol. It's not really a good idea to run the card without a heatsink on it, I wouldn't try it. As for the cleaning, 70% alcohol is fine.

Ok, now i have to finish cleaning the gpu off, then to order my new heatsink........
