how can i create dvds of movies?

i can burn them from a CD but if i were to d/l movies such as .avi or so how can i burn it succesfully.
 
You know I used to waste a lot of time converting AVI, etc to a DVD so I just bought a Divx/Xvid/etc player (RJTech) and now just burn everything on rewritable DVDs for TV viewing. So far it has played everything I have thrown it at it.
 
lol well so i CAN convert avi to (some format please tell me what it is) and burn it and it will run fine?
 
^_^ Good free app, and it's NOT just for divx.

AVS Video Converter is a good choice, and has more options, if you don't mind paying that is.
 
nero vision can do it as well, but isn't freeware. Of course if you're downloading movies, you could probably download the nero program as well.
 
hey what about quicktime files. what can i use to convert that to DVD files?

AVS will convert many formats including QuickTime and RealMedia. But it's not freeware.
 
Cool, best of luck.

Many don't like to pay for software but I found the $30 for AVS converter to be a good value
in my case. Many format, frame size, and compression choices.
