Hi guys!

I'm looking to buy a hot-swap HDD cage for my workstation PC. I want something all aluminium and built like a tank. Anybody have any recommendations? Through experience is preferable however opinions are welcome too!

Ah ok sweet, I didn't know SuperMicro did 5.25" bay racks aswell, I thought just servers etc. Not the best looking thing I've ever seen but then I guess form over function. What made you go for this one specifically?

These are well made. I can tell you that. With that said on some units I did have some performance problems however with swapping cables and drives around this problem went away. I test this from time to time doing read tests on all drives in all the cages at the same time. I have 3 servers with 3 or 4 of these units each. I believe I purchased my first units 3 to 5 years ago so they have been in use for some time.

Thanks heaps for your help! Ill take a look at them.

I also found IcyBox and IcyDock. Anybody got any experience with these?

Something for rugged usage and built with complete full metal? 2.5" HDD/SSD only.
