I was just thinking about strange case mods, and I came up with the idea of removing a window from a case and putting a two-way mirror there. If we could control the light intensity inside of the case, we could see it if we were in a dark room. If we were in a light room, however, we would see our reflection. Would be something strange I'd like to see.

I would like to see pics.

Think of how amazing it would look. You'd be at a lan with your buddies and the lights would be on. You'd have people looking at their reflection saying how lame a mirror was to be placed there. You'd respond with, "turn off the lights", and watch as their eyes grow with amazement!

I'm heading over to Canadian Tire tomorrow to go pick up some window tint...

Your post forced my ass into gear so, I'm gonna do it.

If they have tint, I'll report back, if not I'll go to my local hot rodding shop and pick some up.

Awesome idea, was going to do it myself with my build. Either that or black limo tint.

Just don't photograph it in the nude!

Awe man, you ruined the suprise element of my "reflectoporn" scheme. Sigh, oh well.

Yeah, I'm going to go pick up some static and regular limo tint in... well 20 minutes or so. I'm gonna grab a shower first.

Pics will be posted, upon completion... or utter failure :)

Done!

Worked pretty well... actually.

There are a FEW bubbles stuck under the film... But those should evaporate over the next couple of days, as per the instructions.

It looks REALLY sick with the cathodes on, however :).

Pictures and writeup coming when I get my white CCFLs from jab-tech.

Course, early pictures could be provided when my camera charges.

UPDATE.

Didn't really work all that well

It started to peel off at the edges... Therefore, i'm trying the RIT dye method. Will report back in the morning :p

WOW man I've never seen anybody so dedicated to hop right on this minutes after my post. I'm very anxious to see the pics man! =D

Well... Dying it with RIT actually worked amazingly well.

I boiled it in a pan for 5 hours... 1 packet of RIT dye and 3.5 gallons of water (fucking HUGE turkey pan :D).

Only problem, the cheap acrylic window warped a bit... now it doesn't fit in my case :p. If you were to do this... I'd keep the heat to a very bare minimum, or even better just let it soak in a 50/50 mix of water:vinegar + dye... and leave off the heat alltogether.

No problem, I ordered 2 sheets of 1'x1' 2 way mirrored plexiglass from a guy online (10$ a sheet + shipping of about 10$) that should be here next week.

I'm totally using this as an excuse to re-do my case (the Masstige makeover) and I'm going to be making this into a worklog. I might as well... I'm using some cool parts that I've never seen used before in a case.

So, yeah, expect to see my results... well, next week some time :).
