Hissing sound while overclocking normal?

My motherboard makes a hissing sound when I take my processor over a certain limit. In my case that is over 1.4v at 3200ghz for a E6600. I read that is the power regulators that make that sound while under load. I just don't know if that is normal or safe?

I have the FSB at 350mhz either at 8x or 9x multiplier. The 9x multiplier requires the most voltage over 1.4v resulting in that noise. Reviews of my motherboard have said that memory benchmarks and latencies are best at 50mhz fsb intervals which I have confirmed on mine. Thats why I'm at 350 and not 375 or 333. So at 8x350 I get 2800mhz at 1.365 volts and there is no hiss.

Should I just be happy with that? Or just buy some ear plugs?

My old 955X board would do that anytime I had something plugged into the secondary LAN port, and nothing ever happened to it. Still works today.
