high resolution, small screen

OK, so I didn't know this was possible til the other day it happened.

you see I have a netbook, an acer aspire one to be exact. it has a 10" screen.

anyway i needed to use my hdtv to do some work with a web application that needed a higher resolution, and for that i was in 1600x900 screen resolution.

anyway, someone wanted to use the tv and being the kind person I am finished what I was doing early.

I had the tv connected to the vga, so I unconnected that without shutting the netbook down. then what happened on the netbook monitor was most peculiar, it had maintained the resolution. i of course couldn't see the whole desktop at once, but I could hover around with the mouse out to each of the four corners.:notsobadman:

since I shut down the computer, it didn't retain that setting. and I have tried switching to that other monitor when i go into display properties it does let me switch to that monitor and to that resolution. but i cant get it to display the way it did where it showed only a section and i could hover around and explore the desktop as I pleased. on that monitor and 1600x900 selected there is no change whatsoever, also extend my desktop has a no result as well.

i google'd it and there's a registry hack but the result of that doesn't sound at all like what I had.

it might be something simple so I thought I'd check for anyone who does this on the regulaur

if I can get this working consistently, it will make my netbook 1000% more useful

thanks for reading and your time.

Probably a function of the Intel driver's control panel. Open up the Intel graphics control panel and see if you can find some resolution options that allow for this.
