what are some good ones? i want 140mm if possible, and red would be fantastic. i can add red leds later though so thats not as important. yes theyre for a rad. i need 4 low profile or 2 high profile.

Not sure what measurements define high or low profile, but if low profile is 25 (havent seen any normal fans thinner than that) and you can get two low for one high, that would make high profile up to 50? If you dont care about noise and want the most air flow you can get, id recommend a delta. the FFB1448SHG. http://www.delta.com.tw/product/cp/dcfans/download/pdf/FFB/FFB140x140x50mm.pdf if you can find it. If not, i got the FFB1212EH for 120x25 and that does about 150 cfm, and the AFB1212GHE 120x38 does 250. both can be found at sidewindercomputers.com. Ordered fans from them, got them in 3 days. Beware, if you dont have a fan controller, 60dB is loud. would not reccomend if you want a quiet solution.

typical low profile is 25mm yes, and high profile are typically 38mm. but anything up to 50 would be fine i suppose. noise is not a problem, as i will have them on a controller. i just want something with a high pressure relative to other fans. ill check out those deltas.

another question: i have 2 fans on a rad and one side is open to the outside of the case. the inside has about an inch or 1.5in and then theres a wall. there is a grill around the sides of that gap though. i figure this is ok because some cases that have a solid front panel have little holes around the side of the front panel to let in air for the fan. for mine, would it be better to intake from or exhaust air to that small area, and should i put the 2 fans on that side or on the side that is open to the outside of the case? i can make a picture later when i get home to illustrate if my description isnt clear enough.

If you are getting the 120x38 delta, just as a heads up, make sure you get a heavy duty controller, they eat up 30 watts per. Im using the sunbeam rheobus extreme for mine :)

120x38 Delta = LOUD. I used one for about 1minute before unplugging it without a fan controller. The Sunbean controller is definately the way to go for a controller.. especially using Delta fans. I have a Delta and 2 others on my water cooling setup and turned down just a bit they are wonderful.

lets just classify loud, because there is loud, then there is delta loud. I live on a campus in a four person suite. Four bedrooms, one living room, two bathrooms. Really thin walls, but still, when I turn my fans all the way up, i can hear then as soon as i walk into the front door, with my room door closed. But I can turn them down to where they are no louder than the original tricools (antec1200) set to max. Also just to prove a point in pure volume of air/force, i must digress and tell you a small story. When I was installing my deltas, we decided to see If the 3 120x25s in teh front set to exhaust and the 2 120x38s in the back set to exhaust could make the top spin backwards, while set to high, due to the mass negative pressure created in the case. It worked. It was only after setting the front 3 to intake (150cfm each) and the back two to exhaust (240cfm each), as they should be set, and turning the top fan to low and the back fans all the way up, that i realized how insane these really were, as the top fan spun backwards, with just the two in back running on high and the ones in front at about 50%.

summary:really loud, but move ridiculous amounts of air.
